PSA Zuführtechnik puts its own electropolishing system into operation
As part of the extension to the new production hall, PSA Zuführtechnik in Wolpertshausen has installed its own electropolishing system. As over 95% of PSA's feeders have electropolished surfaces, PSA was heavily dependent on local partners in this area in the past. Having its own system and the associated ability to polish itself in future will create great added value and, above all, greater flexibility for customers. PSA can thus respond even better to the high quality requirements of its customers and confirm delivery dates more precisely.
Electropolishing removes metal from the surfaces of the parts to be processed without mechanical or thermal stress. This is done using direct current in material-specific electrolytes (reverse electroplating). The surfaces are polished, cleaned and deburred. Processing is largely independent of the shape and size of the parts and can also be carried out in hard-to-reach areas. The results can be controlled and reproduced within tight tolerances.
Electropolished surfaces are characterised by a typical combination of functional and decorative properties. In many cases, electropolishing is indispensable for processing high-quality parts, especially in the pharmaceutical industry. By installing its own electropolishing system, PSA is now in a position to deal with delivery difficulties or to carry out short-term reworking for customers in its own plant.
